Shaving guide - How to get the smoothest shave

Bikini season is here, so you pay special attention to your bikini area.
Red spots aren't very sexy, but the truth is that most women get them when shaving. But did you know that in most cases you can avoid them?

The key words are: good hygiene, proper products and minimal friction.

How to get the smoothest shave without red spots:

1. Pre-trim your pubic hair. Look for hairs shorter than 0.6 cm.

2. Always shave in the shower and wet the area to be shaved with warm water to open the pores.
Then carefully apply Lip Intimate Cosmetics Shaving Oil to remove bacteria.

3. Massage the shaving oil into the skin to soften the hair and make shaving more comfortable.

4. Now stretch the skin and shave this area.
Shaving with the direction of hair growth is gentler, but with a good and sharp razor it is also possible to shave crossways as you will get a much closer shave. You can experiment to see how much stress your skin can take.
If you have very coarse hair or very sensitive skin, I recommend shaving with the direction of growth.

5. Don't over-shave.
Shave an area only as much as you need to remove the hair. If you go over it too much, you are more likely to get red spots.

6. Rinse the skin again and finish with cold water to close the pores.

7. If the skin is irritated after shaving, you can use LIP Seabuckthorn + Fragonia as it is soothing, antiseptic and nourishing.

Why do you get red spots after shaving?

The reason is actually hair follicle inflammation, which is caused by micro-damage in the skin where bacteria form.

Inflammation can also be caused by ingrown hairs. If you have coarse hair, you will get hair follicle inflammation more easily. Also if you sweat a lot and rarely shower. If you are very active and rub the skin, you will also get red spots more easily, for example on the panty line.

Additional shaving tips:

  • Use a good quality organic shaving oil if possible
  • Keep the razor slanted and dry to avoid wear and bacteria
  • Replace the razor blade frequently
  • Avoid tight clothing and leave the panties off sometimes
  • Try not to scratch the skin
